Oleme juba õppinud, et passiiv (Passive Voice) on umbisikuline tegumood (midagi tehakse, midagi tehti, midagi hakatakse tegema, midagi on tehtud, jne), mille puhul tegijat pole teada, teda ei peeta vajalikuks mainida või mainitakse alles lause lõpus (sel juhul eessõnaga by).

Aktiivi (isikuline tegumood - tegevuse teostaja on teada ja teda mainitakse lause alguses; keegi teeb midagi, tegi midagi, hakkab tegema midagi, jne) lausetest passiivi lause tegemiseks soovitan järgida järgmist tegevuskava:

1. Leiad lausest tegusõna.
2. Vaatad, mis on tegusõna järel (tegevuse objektiks).
3. Tõstad tegevuse objekti lause etteotsa.
4. Vaatad, millises ajavormis on tegusõna sulle antud lauses.
5. Paned selle tegusõna vastava aja passiivi vormi.
6. Lisad ülejäänud osa lausest.
(7. Vajadusel lisad lause lõppu ka tegevuse teostaja - sel juhul eessõnaga by. Aga enamasti jäetakse see ära.)

Kuna eilse ülesande tegemise käigus selgus, et suurim probleem passiiviga edukalt hakkama saamisel on tegusõnade 3. põhivormi teadmine, siis tänase tunni alguses harjutame veidi seda.
